10 Tips for Losing Weight Faster in Greenville SC

Shedding pounds is tough (there’s no doubt about that)–but not impossible. There are several behavioral and other little changes you can make starting today that will add up to make a big difference in your health–and your waistline.

At last night’s Healthy Lifestyle Seminar, Dr. Marina presented 10 Tips to Lose Weight Faster. Were you unable to make it? No problem! Here’s a recap:

10 Tips to Lose Weight Faster

1. Little Changes Add Up

Instead of   Have

Cream with your coffee

Soda

Beer, liquor or white wine

French fries or potato chips

White bread

White rice

White pasta

Sour cream

Veggies sautéed with oil

Milk

Unsweetened tea

Red wine

Baked potato

Whole grain bread

Brown rice or quinoa

Spaghetti squash

Greek yogurt

Veggies sautéed with broth

2. Eat the Right Carbs 

            Eat It         Reduce Intake
  • Most vegetables, especially greens
  • Whole grains
  • Lower-sugar fruits in moderation
  • Beans and lentils
  • White bread, pasta and rice
  • Sweet tea, sodas and energy drinks
  • Tropical fruit
  • Fried food
  • Snack bars
  • Cereal

3. Don’t Skip Breakfast

Drink a glass of water when you first wake up, then start your metabolic engine first thing with a balanced breakfast!

4. Eat Often

Keep your metabolism working: Eat reasonable portions every few hours. Don’t starve between meals.

5. Follow Guidelines, Not Rules

Guidelines (e.g., lemon water with every meal and no white grains) are easier to follow than rigid rules (e.g., 400 calories at each meal with 100 calorie snacks).

6. Chew, Chew and Chew Some More

Chew to the point that your food is completely liquefied. This slows eating to create fullness and improves digestion.

7. Drink Warm Water with Lemon

Drink warm water with lemon 10-15 minutes before you eat and with every meal. It helps you feel full, hydrates you and it alkalizes your pH level.

8. Embrace Exercise

Sweating promotes movement of the lymphatic and circulatory systems.

  1. 10-15mins of running or walking a day is a great help. Our routine after a walk during the weekends with my kids is cooking healthy food. We are enjoying our time together this time of the year. Great list.

  2. Thanks for your tip about drinking a glass of water as soon as I wake up. I do binge-eating whenever I’m stressed, so it’s really hard for me to achieve weight loss. Maybe I can look for herbal supplements for sale that can help my body lose some extra pounds in a natural way.
